Wow!
Well the time is short at hand and I am still not able to completely grasp the fact that I’m coming home.
So first off, kids you need to go to school, in fact if you stay home I don’t want to see you at the airport, well not really, but I’m sure Mom appreciates the support.
Anyhow. Life here in Longview is great; in fact I think I will have the best possible finish to my mission. This Saturday we are going to have a baptism, and then Sunday he will be confirmed and in that same Sacrament Meeting I’ll be playing the piano to accompany a men’s ensemble. All in all it’s going to be great.
Yesterday we had an appointment with Lenny (the one getting baptized) and we reviewed the interview questions and personally that is my favorite part, as we were talking he started to share his testimony on some of the things that had been holding him back and as he was talking the Spirit was so strong and I was really able to see the change that he has made in his life.
Also last night I found out that Kelsey Reetz who was baptized in August is getting her patriarchal blessing on Sunday and she is just about finished with the Book of Mormon for the first time. Right now I think I’m the happiest I could be and honestly I’m not too trunky.
Mom it’s just like you said, the end will come before I know it and then I’ll have to come home and start real life. Well I can see the light, feel the breeze and smell the fresh air at the end of the tunnel, but as I get ready to leave the mission tunnel, I’m just going to turn around look back, and honestly I can say that I have loved my mission and that it has been a great start to my life as a saint in Zion.
I love all of you tons. Thank you to everyone that has prayed to me, sent letters, packages, and helped in any other ways that I don’t even know about or at this moment can’t remember. I love you all so very much and am excited to see you all a week and a few hours from now.
However I have to say sorry to the kids because I’m going to be weird. I’m old and bald and I can’t remember English so be patient with me and just love me.
Just kidding. But really I’m going to be weird. I hope that you all have a great week and I’ll see you soon.

Hey Dad,
So thanks for getting that blanket picked up for me, it's still weird to think that you were in the mission office and in just 2 more weeks I’ll be there myself. Wow, how the time passes and it just seems to be moving faster and faster and the time gets shorter and shorter.
Part of that getting shorter is I think is due to the fact that I had my last interview with Pres Greer on Friday and well, he asked several questions that I really didn’t want to have to even think about, let alone answer. Honestly, the first question that he asked was what myself and the other two missionaries (the first part of the interview was in a group with 2 other missionaries) what we would be looking for as we started to go home and date, not exactly the kind of question that is going to keep you focused on missionary work or anything else.
However, I did get some good advise form him and his wife and so I guess it's all just part of the process of a mission, good thing though, I seemed to have skipped the part of the mission where all of my hair was supposed to fall out lol. Maybe it’s one of those things that skips a generation.
So back to the meeting Friday, so it ended a little earlier than we were expecting so we had about a half hour before we had to be back to Longview, so I took it as an opportunity to stop by the Escalonas, they live like 4 blocks away from the building that my meeting was at so it wasn't too far out of our way. It was great to see them, all of the kids are still active and Lupe, their mom, is as well. Carlos, well he is in a very secure place and I think I’ll just leave it at that.
Anyhow, Eric the oldest son should be getting the Melchizedek priesthood here in the next month or so and Jocelyn, who is Quinci's age, is now the third counselor in the Young Women Presidency. They have three because the branch is combined with a ward for their youth programs and since there needed to be a connection between the Spanish speaking parents and the English leaders she was called to fill in and be a liaison in a way, but anyway I’m super proud of all of them and how they have just taken hold of the gospel and how they have been faithful.
So back to my interview; wow, most of my week has revolved around those 40 min that I spoke with President. So he asked me in my personal interview if I thought that Elder Melchor who has been out for a month would be able to train a new missionary when I leave. Holy Cow, well I told him at the time I wasn't sure, but I have been working with him a ton this past week and me and President will probably be talking about it here in the next week or so. From what I was told I’m one of the last fluent Americans in the mission and that is really unnerving President, and so since Melchor is already fluent President really wants to use him to get a new base set for the future of the Spanish missionaries. So I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens there.
Anyhow, I hope that you have a great week and that I can hear back from you all next week. By the way, if there have been any of you out there that have wanted to write to sweet old Elder Millar, next Tuesday will be your last opportunity.

Hello All,
Well this last week has been kinda rough, so basically everything that we had planned for didn't work out for one reason or another. I'm still not sure if it is the Lord trying my patience and diligence or if it is the adversary trying to make me discouraged. Either way it was rough trying to figure out what to do and who to see.
The other thing that has been hard is that the rain has started again, yup basically everyday from now until March will have at least an hour or so of rain, I think Elder Melchor might die, it was actually really funny yesterday, it was about 10 min before our dinner and we had nowhere to go so we parked the car and I made a few phone calls. Then while I was doing that Elder Melchor got out his umbrella and used it for the first time. He really made me laugh. Actually he reminded me a lot of the Arizona Elders in the MTC that had never seen snow before and who just freaked out when there was 1/2 inch on the ground.
Also, thanks for the cards everyone, they were awesome and they really made my day. I don’t know why but this birthday just kinda snuck up on me, honestly it didn't hit me that it was my birthday until half way through the day. And I really wasn't thinking about it last week much either until I got the cards. So I'm not sure if that's just what happens when you get old or if it’s because of the mission or what, but it’s come and gone and now I have another 365 days until I have another one.
Anyhow sorry to be so short but I really can’t think of anything else exciting that has happened lately. Hope all is well back home, love you all tons.
